POPPMotion & presence detectors
Precise detection. Timely light. Safer spaces.
No switches at the entrance, in the hallway, the garage or the yard. Pick a McGuard detector by mounting point, angle and range — from a compact hallway model to a 360° solution for a facade or high ceiling.

The place determines the detector
Choose by mounting point, height, detection sector and direction, range, IP protection and the load to be controlled. That is why the range spans 14 models + 1 accessory — one for every kind of place.
01Mounting
Ceiling; wall and corner; standard wall box; concealed in a luminaire.
02Environment
Dry interior; protected area; outdoor with the correct IP class.
03Coverage
110°, 180°, 240° or 360°; 6–12 m or Ø16 m for a high ceiling.
04Control
Lighting; two outputs; acoustic retriggering; remote adjustment.
The right detector for every zone
Choose by installation point, detection angle and required range.

Remote setup for the 94536
94536 mounted somewhere hard to reach? The McGuard IR FB remote (94538) lets you adjust it from the ground, without a ladder or remounting.
REAL INSTALLATION
An entrance that greets you
McGuard BM240ws (94531) on the facade: a 240° sector covers the path and the door — the light greets arrivals and switches off behind them.

PIR, presence or HF?
Three sensing approaches. The choice depends on the installation point and on what should happen after detection.
HF 5.8 GHz
High-frequency
Use 94520 for concealed installation inside a suitable luminaire or enclosure — it senses movement through the housing, with no visible sensor.
Installation and planning

230 V installation is carried out by a qualified electrician — a McGuard ceiling detector in a real setting.

Ceiling mounting — PM-APws (94500) at 2.4–2.5 m; coverage ≈ Ø 6 m.

Outdoor wall / corner mounting — BM240ws (94531) at ≈ 2.5 m; range up to 12 m.

In a standard wall box — McGuard UP (94522) at 1.2 m; up to 8 m to the front.
01
Mounting location
Ceiling (surface or recessed), wall and corner, a standard wall box or concealed inside a luminaire — pick the model to fit the architecture, not the other way round.
02
Height
Ceiling models work best around 2.4–2.5 m. 94522 mounts at 1.2 m, and 94503 covers from up to 10 m.
03
Coverage and direction
Plan the angle (180°–360°) and range against the direction of movement — PIR detects crossing movement most reliably.
04
Environment and load
Check the IP class for the location (outdoors — IP54/IP55) and the lamp-type limits in the current instruction.
Diagrams are indicative; exact values per the current installation instruction.
Detection range depends on mounting height, direction of movement, temperature and the environment. Check the current instruction. 230 V installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between motion and presence detection?
A motion detector switches the light when someone passes and suits short on-times. A presence detector (94500, 94501) is intended for longer room occupancy and has two independent outputs — for example lighting and ventilation.
PIR or HF — which should I choose?
PIR reads changes in infrared radiation (heat movement) and needs a clear line of sight. HF (5.8 GHz, model 94520) senses movement with a high-frequency signal and can work concealed inside a suitable luminaire. Suitability depends on the installation and surrounding materials.
Which model is for a high ceiling?
94503 (PM-AP HR) — for ceilings up to 10 m with coverage up to Ø16 m, subject to the current installation instruction.
Which models are for outdoor use?
The professional IP55 series: 94531, 94532 and 94536. 94503 is rated IP54, but its suitability depends on the installation instruction. Not every model is suitable outdoors — check the IP class.
Which model can be hidden in a luminaire?
94520 — a 5.8 GHz HF detector designed for concealed installation inside a suitable luminaire or enclosure.
Which model fits a standard wall box?
94522 (McGuard UP) — 180°, up to 8 m to the front and 6 m to the side at 1.2 m mounting height. It takes the place of a normal switch.
Does acoustic retriggering mean voice control?
No. In supported models it can extend or renew switching on noise while the room is occupied. It does not recognise words or commands.
Which model works with a remote?
94536 is remote-ready; the matching accessory is the 94538 infrared remote with about 6 m range, ordered separately.
Can I use any LED load?
No. Limits differ by model and depend on the lamp/driver. Check the current instruction for the specific model and consult an electrician when unsure.
Who should install a 230 V detector?
A qualified electrician, following the current instruction for the specific model.
How can POPP help me choose?
